Lilo looked down into the water expecting to see a fish, but gasped in surprise when she was that it was a person. “Hey! What are you doing!? Trying to scare me to death!” Lilo didn’t see the girls tail, instead was transfixed on her red hair. Lilo had never seen such red hair. Of course Mertel’s hair was red, but not like that.
Ariel darted backwards under the water. Scare her? Why would she want to scare her? This was the second time a human had seemed afraid of her! She had come to an amazing conclusion: Humans were as afraid of merfolk as merfolk were of them!
lilo regained herself as the girl went backwards in the water. She sighed. So maybe this girl hadn’t tried to scare her. Maybe she was merely passing by. “Sorry.” Lilo said half thinking the girl could hear her. “You just came out of nowhere is all. I”m Lilo!”

Rapunzel still really wanted to learn to swim. It was irritating that she never had the time or means. So she wandered down to the beach and stared at the ocean, trying to will herself into the water without someone telling her how it was done.
“Hi.” Lilo said to the girl. “Isn’t the ocean beautiful?” Lilo smiled at the girl then looked out over the water. “I”m Lilo by the way.”
